Kiwi / kiwifruit has a fuzzy brown skin that acts as a natural protective layer, with green or golden yellow flesh containing small edible seeds. They are commonly peeled and eaten raw due to their unique sweet and tart flavour, but are also a popular garnish for cocktails and desserts.
Kiwis are ripe once slightly soft to the touch, which generally takes 2-3 days at room temperature, or can be placed in a brown paper bag to accelerate the process. Once ripe, they can last 4-5 days in the fridge.
